RECREATE THE FORM OF LEARNING

Traditional way of study in schools of Architecture is based on design studios which are taught by different teachers and selected by students. Each studio often has a large room where students can have classes, design and draw on their desks. However, this crowded way of study is short of one significant factor of design--solitude. Most of the time our moments of inspiration comes from thinking and feeling things alone. Therefore, I want to create a school of Architecture taking single studios as core, supplemented by discussing space, crit space and classrooms, which can be a research towards a possible way of atypical school of Architectrue.

Typology Analysis

collective studio space and private studio, centralized crit space and decentralized crit space

Case Study

Cornell AAP Milstein Hall

What if we were to think about the armory typology in relation to its original architectural inspiration: the 19th century train station? Both building types, 19th century stations and armories, are organized around entry buildings attached to large columnless halls, both employ similar spatial proportions and structural approaches, and both deal with high volumes of circulation.
